Once you have your team structure built, it is time to create Training Checklists
Training Checklists are made up of smaller ‘packets’ of related skills called Skills Modules. Having skills organized into Modules makes it easier to manage skills as well as assign trainers and signers.
There are several options to create Training Checklists.
1)Vet Level Up comes with an extensive Resource Center of pre-built Skill Modules which you can use as-is or modify as you see fit. This is a great place to start if you do not currently have existing Training Checklists in use.
2) If you already use Training Checklists in your organization, use our bulk skill impor tool to easily transfer the skills from your “paper” Checklists into Vet Level Up.
3) You can create custom Training Checklists and Skill Modules to meet your organization’s needs.
Managing Skills
- Skills can be hands-on or knowledge-based.
- Repetition for Competency - When assigning a skill to a Skill Module, you can set multiple sign-offs or repetitions that are required in order for a skill be designated as completed and signed off. This is ideal for skills that require a high-level of competency.
- Training Reference Material, Criteria, and Guidance - You may upload YouTube video links, images, website links, PDF or Word Documents, as well as text descriptions for each skill which may describe criteria and/or demonstrate appropriate technique or requirements for successful skill sign-off.
- Skills can also be tagged with key words for ease of key word searching.
Helpful Tips
- We suggest looking through the prebuilt Skill Modules to give you an idea how skills are organized.
- Skill Modules can be used in multiple Training Checklists (example: An introductory Client Communication Skill Module can be included in every entry-level position Checklist.)
- Individual skills can also be placed into multiple Skill Modules (ex: “Drug dosage calculation” can be included in both an “Pharmacy” Skill Module as well as in an “Anesthesia” Skill Module)
